TRIBUTE NEWS: Remembering the Life and Ministry of President Russell M. Nelson

President Russell M. Nelson’s legacy will long be remembered for his faith, vision, and profound influence on millions around the globe. Sustained as an Apostle on April 7, 1984, he later became the 17th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on January 14, 2018.

His years as prophet marked a period of extraordinary global ministry. President Nelson traveled extensively, visiting dozens of countries and U.S. territories to meet with Saints, leaders, and communities, bringing a message of faith, hope, and the centrality of Jesus Christ.

He also oversaw an unprecedented era of temple construction, announcing dozens of new temples that stand as symbols of faith and devotion across the world. From the very beginning of his leadership — beginning with the April 2018 general conference where he was sustained as senior Apostle — President Nelson introduced frequent adjustments to Church programs and practices. Each change was designed to bring members closer to Christ, encouraging them to minister in ways that more closely follow the Savior’s example.
